China's Power Capacity Surges in Early 2026, Driven by Strong Solar and Wind Growth

On March 25, China's National Energy Administration released national power statistics for January–February 2026.

As of the end of February, China's total installed power generation capacity reached 3.95 billion kW, up 15.9% year-on-year. Among this, solar power capacity was 1.23 billion kW, increasing by 33.2%, and wind power capacity was 650 million kW, up 22.8%.

In the first two months, the average utilization hours of power generation equipment nationwide were 466 hours, 39 hours less than the same period last year.
